Annabelle Lopez Ochoa's critically acclaimed Broken Wings, featuring Tamara Rojo in the role of Frida Kahlo alongside ballet star Irek Mukhamedov as Diego Rivera. Iconic painter Frida Kahlo is the heroine of this ballet. It is based on Kahlo’s life and art.
Enjoy the English National Ballet’s premiere of Broken Wings, available from 7pm BST on Wednesday 22nd April 2020 and then on-demand for 48 hours.
Paris Opera Ballet's performance of Swan Lake is available to watch until 5th April 2020 (tomorrow!)
New videos added to the Members’ Area Practice at Home
The Royal Opera House will be offering a free programme of online ballet broadcasts, masterclasses and cultural insights.
Due to the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, productions and events have been postponed at the Royal Opera House and around the world. ROH have “created a schedule of free broadcasts and live content that audiences can access for free anywhere, anytime across the globe, bringing both ballet and opera to every home and every device”.
This will include the following productions offered on demand and for free via the ROH’s Facebook and YouTube channels:
Peter and the Wolf, The Royal Ballet, 2010 – 27 March 2020, 7pm GMT
Handel’s Acis and Galatea, The Royal Ballet and The Royal Opera – 03 April 2020, 7pm GMT
The Metamorphosis, The Royal Ballet, 2013 – 17 April 2020, 7pm BST
The Winter’s Tale, The Royal Ballet, 2014 – 1 May 2020, 7pm BST
Mayerling (for the older student), and Darcey Bussell: Looking for Margot are all available on BBC iPlayer.
The Royal Opera House will roll out more of their free programme of broadcasts, so look out for updates and announcements via The Royal Opera House's social media.
New Members’ Area
I want to encourage all students to continue to practise their ballet, nurture their creativity and maintain their fitness. Take a look at the new Members’ Area with lots of resources for students, to aid their practice at home. This page will be updated regularly.
Due to the escalation of the COVID-19 Coronavirus, regrettably, all classes at Geneva Ballet School have been suspended from 18th March 2020. Therefore, there will be no classes tomorrow onwards. The safety of students, parents and carers is paramount.
This will be reviewed towards the end of the Easter holiday (the end of April 2020) .
Please keep an eye on the Geneva Ballet School website and in particular, this ‘News’ page for further updates.

An enjoyable pre-school ballet class for children aged 3-4 years and their parent, grandparent or carer. These classes develop children’s co-ordination and physical skills, while encouraging creativity, musicality, confidence and social skills.

Today was the RAD 2020 Centenary- South East Regional Awards Day. Approximately six-eight finalists were selected from each class at the South East county heats to attend the Final.
Two GBS Grade 7 students took part in the RAD South East Award Heats and successfully got through to the RAD Awards Final. The final will take place at the RAD Headquarters in London.

The RAD has been inspiring the world to dance for almost a century, and on 31st December 2020 will officially turn 100. To celebrate this landmark, the RAD are planning a year-long programme of events and initiatives throughout 2020.

There is an opportunity to watch The Margot Fonteyn International Ballet Competition (formerly known as The Genée Competition) at the Royal Opera House, London. The Margot Fonteyn competition is hosted yearly in various locations around the world. This year the competition returns to London and will be held at the Royal Opera House for the first time.
Six tickets (£66.30 each) and four tickets (£79.90 each) have been reserved for the final of the competition on Saturday 5th September 2020.

We now have Geneva Ballet School uniform (with the GBS logo) available to purchase. Click on GBS Warm-Up Uniform and Accessories to order GBS garments.
Geneva Ballet School’s students in the higher grades are being offered the chance to have a professional photographer take photographs of their dancing. These students will be given a free photograph each. Further photographs will be available to purchase.
The photography session will take place on Sunday 24th November 2019. If you would like your child to participate, please email info@genevaballetschool.co.uk. Please be aware that numbers are limited.
We have an additional day at North Oxford Community Centre. RAD Grade 6, RAD Grade 7 and Intermediate Foundation classes will be held on Thursdays at the Community Centre.

Congratulations GBS Summer 2019 candidates!
The exam candidates’ certificates, reports and medals will be presented to students during the first week of the Autumn Term 2019.
There is an audition on Monday 11th November 2019 at Waterside Theatre, Aylesbury for the performance Giselle. The performance dates will be Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th April 2020. Many Geneva Ballet School students, their families and friends were thoroughly entertained during the English Youth Ballet Company’s performance of ‘Cinderella in Hollywood’ at the New Theatre Oxford on Saturday 15th June 2019. Geneva Ballet School’s RAD Grade 2 student performed in ‘The Movie’ scene and ‘Tea for Two’.
